how to use the card aging power-up in trello

it's that time of the year when everyone takes some time off to relax and spend time with their friends or family (or, if you're me, climbing a mountain).

the in-office staff is a skeleton crew. they are soon going on vacation too—and they hopefully left a card on a trello board with some "while i am out" instructions as a virtual passing of the work-baton.

after some much needed r&r, you come back to work and look at your trello boards but you notice something looks different.

while some cards have their glossy trello sheen, others look withered and forgotten to time. like a plant that is crying out for water, you know these cards have been ignored.

but what kind of sorcery created this kanban illusion?

it looks like one of your board mates enabled the card aging power-up

but how do you know where to start? which tasks should be prioritized? with the card aging power-up, you can see at a glance which tasks needs your attention immediately and which ones can be placed on the back burner.

keep your team visually accountable

the card aging power-up helps you see cards on a board that haven't been touched in a while.  it's a great way to create a gentle reminder for your teammates when tasks are getting left behind.

when enabled, cards will visibly age with inactivity.

there are two modes: “regular” and “pirate”. in regular mode, cards become progressively more transparent and “fade out” the longer they remain untouched.

in pirate mode, cards will tear, get dark, and crack like an old pirate map. shiver me timbers!

but what if you have a card on your board that doesn’t need a visual 世界杯欧洲预选赛直播平台 nudge? it might be an informational card or something fun like a dog gif card cover to make your team smile before they dive into their work.

the card aging power-up has a new card button that allows you to choose that card as evergreen. evergreen cards won't age like their fading or pirate-ing counterparts, keeping your board clean with those important card covers and gifs galore.

here are a few use cases for using this power-up:

keep your cards moving with the card aging power-up

it’s easy for tasks to become bottlenecks.

without the visual cues to inform you and your team how long a task has been simmering in a list, it’s easy to overlook or even ignore it. the card aging power-up gives everyone on the team visibility into which tasks need to keep moving through the workflow or which ones need to be re-prioritized.
